ASU cheerleader and SAAC Female Representative Brandie Hall has been voted to serve as president of the 2013-2014 Southern Intercollegiate (SIAC) SAAC organization. Hall was one of three student-athletes chosen to serve on the group’s executive board. She will be joined by Clark Atlanta University’s Kelvin Tanner (vice-president) and Tuskegee University’s Christian Patterson.
“Being named president is a great opportunity for me,” said Hall. “I will get to network with my fellow student-athletes from other schools in the conference. It will also give me a chance to help broaden pathways for student-athletes in our conference and continue to shine the positive spotlight on ASU.”
Hall’s position as president records a historical moment for Albany State. She will be the first ASU student-athlete to serve in SAAC on the conference or national level.
“We are honored to have Brandie voted to this position,” said Stan McCormick, SAAC advisor. “She is intelligent, energetic and professional. Brandie also has a genuine love for her fellow student-athletes, and that will serve as an aid in her leadership role. We are looking forward to watching her flourish in this position.”
ASU athletics director Dr. Richard H. Williams believes Hall’s position can open doors for other ASU student-athletes.
“We are very proud that Brandie has been selected as SAAC president for the SIAC,” said Williams. “Her presence in a leadership capacity will definitely help influence our other student-athletes to strive for leadership roles. “Brandie is a great person, and I know she will represent us well during her tenure.”
