Atlanta – During a visit to the state capitol, Dougherty County Middle School students witnessed first-hand the political process in action.
Members of the Albany State University Health Careers Opportunity Program, an afterschool health club hosted the trip on March 20, and were invited as special guests of Senator Freddie Powell Sims. Sims represents residents of the12th district.
In Atlanta, students were present as a health legislative law was passed. Habitat for Humanity also received special recognition.
According to Valarie Wallace, HCOP program manager, the organization “impacts students by exposing them to medical programs and conferences at colleges and universities throughout the state.”
