Lily Pad and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital present the First Annual Southwest Georgia Child Abuse Symposium on May 18-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Phoebe Northwest, 2336 Dawson Road.
The symposium is supported by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Georgia Department of Community Health. Comprehensive training will be provided for medical professionals, law enforcement officers, social services providers, mental health professionals, educators and community stakeholders.
The keynote address will be given by Yameika Head, M.D., Forensic Pediatrician and Assistant Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine. Other professionals on hand will be a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Forensic Psychologist, District Attorney and Chief Investigator, Attorney with expertise in child felony crimes and an F.B.I. Victim Advocate Specialist. Opening remarks will be made by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital President/CEO Joel Wernick at 8:45 a.m.
