ALBANY, Georgia – The Albany Panthers are proud to announce the signing of two new players to the PANTHER Organization. The new players are Jacob Hardwick, defensive end from Albany State University and WR/LB Jonnie Butler.
Hardwick, is a 6’3”, 285 lb defensive lineman, who is rated by CBS Sports as the 99th best inside defensive lineman in the 2011 draft. Hardwick finished his career at Albany State University, where he helped lead them to a second round playoff berth in his senior season at ASU. During his college career, Hardwick accumulated 162 tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 33 sacks, 1 interception, one touchdown, seven forced fumbles, and 14 quarterback hurries.
Butler is a 6’3”, 230 lb linebacker/ wide receiver, who is an arena football veteran, spending two years in the af2 with stops in South Georgia, Albany, (NY), and most recently with the AFL’s Bossier-Sheveport Battle. He is a graduate of Grambling State University where he also ran track.
“These two additions should solidify an already incredible defense,” said Panthers General Manager Will Carter. “The goal of any franchise is to win a championship, and signing these two are definitely steps toward that goal.”
