In a unique effort to promote the sport by local enthusiasts, a citywide tennis tournament will be held April 10 at all country clubs and public facilities.
The $10 cost per event (singles and doubles) includes lunch. Water and iced tea also will be provided to players at no charge. Competition is available or singles, adult doubles, mixed doubles, and senior (over 50) doubles.
The event is coordinated by the Albany Tennis Association with assistance from the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“We are asking people to come and play, have a good time and support tennis in Albany,” Friedlander said.
A similar event for junior tennis players will be held April 17.
