Civilian Bailey D. Wilder recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.
Wilder will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy’s Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

Marine Corps Pvt. Kalexis D. Williams recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C. designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
Williams and fellow recruits began their training at 5 a. m., by running three miles and performing calisthenics. In addition to the physical conditioning program, Williams spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments which included learning first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training. They performed close order drill and operated as a small infantry unit during field training. Williams and other recruits also received instruction on the Marine Corps’ core values–honor, courage and commitment, and what the core values mean in guiding personal and professional conduct.
Williams and fellow recruits ended the training phase with The Crucible, a 54-hour, team evolution culminating in an emotional ceremony in which recruits are presented the Marine Corps Emblem, and addressed as “Marines” for the first time in their careers.

CVN 77, has completed a seven months deployment supporting combat operations in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet area of responsibilities (AOR) and was relieved by the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).
While in the Mediterranean Sea, George H.W. Bush conducted a full range of maritime operations and theater security cooperation efforts in concert with coalition, joint, interagency and other partners to improve operational proficiency, and maintain maritime safety and security.
George H. W. Bush is the flag ship of George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWB CSG).

John B. Deanon
Navy Midshipman John B. Deanon, and more than 900 other freshmen recently completed Plebe Summer while attending the United States Naval Academy.
Plebe summer is the summer training program which is required of all incoming freshmen to the U.S. Naval Academy. The six-weeks training developed Deanon morally, mentally and physically. He was also instilled with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty. Deanon will go on to complete the academic year as a Midshipmen.

Army Pvt. Lemarcus Q. Mims has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Mims is the son of Eartha and Berneil Lockett of Albany, Ga.

Army Reserve Pvt. Adrian B. Green has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

Robert G. Drummer
Army Reserve Lt. Col. Robert G. Drummer is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn, or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations.
The soldiers return to Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.
The lieutenant colonel, a judge advocate general with 23 years of military service, is regularly assigned to the 359th Tactical Theatre Signal Brigade, based out of Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga.

Derrick A. Cabbage
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Derrick A. Cabbage was recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, Calf.
Cabbage was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty. Cabbage joined the Marine Corps in August 2010.
Cabbage is a 2006 graduate of Westover High School.
