DOUGHERTY CASA ADVOCATE ORIENTATION
WHAT: To be a CASA Advocate you must be:  At least 21 years old. Successfully pass background, fingerprint checks and personal interview prior to starting training. Have a strong verbal and written communication skill.  Be able to commit to a minimum of 2 hours each month. Be willing to visit the child(ren) minimally once a month.  Successfully complete 30 hours of initial training provided by Dougherty CASA. Be able to keep information confidential and can work within established program guidelines. Respect a child’s inherent right to grow up with dignity in a safe and nurturing environment. Our children need both female and male advocates.

TENTH ANNUAL SPRING FLING
WHAT: Lee County Elementary School’s PTO will be holding the tenth annual Spring Fling. This event promises to be a huge day of fun for all who attend. There is no charge to enter the Spring Fling, but punch tickets will be sold for the various carnival games. Punch tickets will range from $1 to $20. Kids will really enjoy playing the many games and participating at the activity booths. For the more daring there will be the Rock Wall and Bungee Bounce. There will also be many community attractions as well as several first responder vehicles for the kids to tour. A silent auction will be held throughout the day. Items will include large themed baskets along with merchandise and gift certificates donated from local businesses. One of our larger items this year will be day passes to Walt Disney World. Concessions will also be available, so you can plan to have lunch while continuing to enjoy the activities. LCES students will be participating
in a talent show for Spring Fling attendee viewing.

WHAT: Anyone concerned about Crime is welcome to attend. Albany Crime Stoppers is a local non-profit community action program that operates on the information given by anonymous citizens. The goal of the program is to collect tips that will result in solving crimes and assist in arrests.
This program is comprised of a board of local volunteers concerned about the safety of this community. Additional support comes from our partners at the local media and law enforcement.

WHAT: Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany will host its 25th Annual Steak-N-Burger Dinner. This dinner has become our largest and most successful event of the year. This dinner provides our financial supporters an opportunity to meet and socialize with the youth they support over the year. It also provides us an opportunity to teach “hands on” social skills and etiquette to our members. Come early and peruse our many silent auction items.
