An opening reception showcasing the artist and her work will be on Thursday January 9th from 5:30-8pm.

The Home & Abroad Exhibit is a collection of her paintings of her home, southwest Georgia, and her travels abroad.

Henrietta enjoys traveling regionally and overseas. During college, she spent a year in France with the Sweet Briar Program. She describes the world as a fascinating place regardless of one’s vantage point. This exhibit showcases her landscape paintings of local scenes and images from her travels. The collection includes mixed media, oils and watercolor paintings displayed with regional accents of cotton and baskets which makes for quite an impressive visual within the historic Carnegie!

As an active local artist and teacher, Henrietta is a familiar painter to many. She has an undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College in french and history and masters in art history from Vanderbilt University. Currently, she teaches art at Deerfield Windsor, her alma mater. She has taught classes at Darton State College, the Albany Museum of Art and privately. Henrietta regularly exhibits her work. Her painting, A Quiet Moment, won third place in the 2013 Southwest Georgia Regional Art Show and Sale. She is a member of the artist collective in Thomasville.

Henrietta began painting in watercolor and mixed media but now works in oil as well. She enjoys en plein air. She has taken workshops from Lian Zhen, Peggy Everett and Apalachicola School of Art. Aside from painting and art, Henrietta describes herself as a voracious reader. She especially enjoys reading art history. Henrietta is married to M. Alan Ladson and they have two children, William and Anna, and a dog Chip. For more information about Henrietta and to view her work please visit www.henriettaladson.com.
