C-SPAN to reveal Macon history and highlight authors during week-long visit
Mayor Robert Reichert, The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and Cox Communications will welcome the national network for a showcase event as they kick off a week-long visit to record and feature the city’s history and literary life.
Why Macon? Macon was chosen for its history and literary culture as one of 24 U.S. communities to be visited on the 2014 Cities Tour. On Tuesday, January 21 at the Historic Hay House, in partnership with Cox Communications, C-SPAN representatives will reveal the stories and segments that will be explored. During their time in Macon, C-SPAN representatives will also conduct community outreach, explaining why they are in the city and how Macon can utilize C-SPAN’s free resources.
The stories gathered by the video crews will later be shown on non-fiction book channel Book TV (on C-SPAN2, Cox Communications channel 81) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3, Cox Communications channel 82) during C-SPAN’s special Macon weekend February 15-16.
