ALBANY – Despite a late second half lead of eight points, the Lady Cavaliers fell to Georgia Highlands 90-86 in overtime at the Cavalier Arena, in Albany today.
Darton’s sophomores led the charge and kept a steady yet narrow lead throughout most of the game. Jasmine Wilson scored 26 points, while forwards Iesha Bonner and Kadaysha Jones each had double-doubles. Bonner had 14 rebounds and 15 points and Jones rebounded 14 and scored 14 points.
But it just wasn’t quite enough for the Lady Cavs, whose leading scorer, Shanae Armbrister, was heavily pressured and kept to scoring ten points – only half of her average points per game.
After a nail-biting tie during regulation, Darton led the five-minute overtime period by four points with only 1:24 remaing. Georgia Highlands managed to capitalize on a couple of Darton turnovers though to turn the tide of the game.
Darton’s 5-game winning streak snapped, the Lady Cavs dropped to 14-6 overall and 6-4 in GCAA conference play. They play again Saturday, as they host Georgia Perimeter College at home at 2 p.m.
