Atlanta, - Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairman DuBose Porter announced the hiring of Rebecca Bukant DeHart as the new Executive Director of the Party.
“We are so pleased to have found the right person for this position. Rebecca brings years of local, state and national political experience, a passion for her work and a real commitment to Democratic ideals,” said Chairman Porter.
DeHart has spent the last dozen years working on issues pending under Georgia’s Gold Dome. She represented clients contractually as the President of her own firm and spent years working with the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and as the Executive Director of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. During election years, DeHart has managed political campaigns from local and statewide races to ballot initiatives. In addition to her work in Georgia, DeHart has been a lead consultant and creator of award-winning political direct mail programs for Democratic candidates across the nation as the Senior Vice President of a national direct mail and consulting firm.
“It is an exciting time to be a Democrat in Georgia and I’m honored to accept this position,” said DeHart. “Georgia is receiving national attention as we have an incredible slate of Democratic candidates this year and an electorate that is tired of the same Republican politicians politicizing our private lives, obstructing our access to health care and chipping away at our kids’ chance to receive a good public education or from receiving a comprehensive HOPE scholarship. We have a unique opportunity to continue to build up our party and our state infrastructure so that we will be more than just competitive come November—we will be victorious.”
DeHart was approved by the Executive Committee for the position today and will continue to work with Chairman, staff and State Committee to build out the rest of the team.
