Special to the Journal

Callaway Gardens will re-open on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, following a brief Winter Break. Free weekday* admission to the Gardens begins Monday, Jan. 13 and lasts through Feb. 28.

For those who have visited Callaway Gardens before, free admission in January and February is one way to show our appreciation for their patronage and support of our mission of connecting man and nature. For those who have not had the opportunity, we want to invite them at no cost on these special dates to experience and discover Callaway Gardens.

It may be Winter but there are lots of fun things to do and see at Callaway Gardens, such as witnessing butterflies emerging and taking flight in the warm, tropical Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center and exploring the beautiful John A. Sibley Horticultural Center with gorgeous floral displays. While visiting, get outdoors for a little exercise on one of the many walking trails or meander through the Gardens on the Discovery Bicycle Trail (bicycles are available for rent or bring your own). It’s amazing what wonders nature provides at this time of year.

Additional highlights of our Winter season include the 43rd Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts as well as exhibits open to the public, Jan. 12-22; the 28th annual Southern Gardening Symposium, Jan. 24-26, featuring renowned Garden experts including James Farmer; the year’s first Callaway Gardens Fitness Series Event, a marathon, half-marathon and 5K race on Jan. 26; and our romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner Package available on Feb. 14 and 15.

With so much to see and do, extend your stay overnight in one of our four overnight accommodations conveniently located on Callaway Gardens’ property! Choose from our newly renovated Mountain Creek® Inn, cozy Southern Pine® Cottages, spacious Mountain Creek® Villas or luxurious Vacation Homes.
