Board and senior staff join Design/Engineering firm to brighten the holidays
Atlanta –The State Transportation Board (STB) and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) staff once again collaborated with nationwide design and engineering firm Gresham Smith and Partners (GS&P) to help make the holidays merrier for children and their families at Children’s at Hughes Spalding Hospital, part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) network. Board, staff and company officials decorated and delivered more than two dozen miniature Christmas trees to youngsters spending the holiday season at Children’s at Hughes Spalding.
“Children are precious and even more so during the excitement of the holiday season,” Congressional District 5 Board Member Stacey Key commented. “This experience was touching for all of us, and presented the perfect occasion to share with those who are not as fortunate during this time. It is a wonderful tradition that Gresham Smith and Partners organizes, and we all appreciated the opportunity to participate. We are humbled and proud to have experienced the work done at Hughes Spalding Hospital.”
In addition to decorating and delivery the Christmas trees, the group visited several areas of Children’s at Hughes Spalding Hospital, including the emergency room, primary care facility and specialized patient and family treatment areas. Through the generous spirit of GS&P, gift cards to help families in need were also donated during the visit.
“Giving back to communities is a big part of the Gresham Smith culture,” said GS&P Executive Vice President Marshall Elizer. “We are committed to service and helping provide assistance where needed. This holiday season, working with GDOT, we were able to give needed help and bring some joy and festivity to families at Children’s at Hughes Spalding.”
