Rob Watts to keynote GSW Commencement Dec. 14

AMERICUS (Dec. 10, 2013) —Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will hold its Fall 2013 Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 in Convocation Hall of the GSW Student Success Center. Rob Watts, interim president of Georgia Perimeter College, will be the commencement speaker.
With 405 students expected to graduate, ample space for guests is limited. Family and friends of graduates are encouraged to arrive early.

Watts began his second stint as interim president at GPC in May 2012. He previously served as interim president of Georgia Perimeter College in Decatur, Ga., from 2005-2006. Watts earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Florida State University, in Tallahassee. He also holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University’s Bologna Center, in Bologna, Italy.
During commencement, LaVerne Worthy, Ph.D., professor of psychology and 2013 Professor of the Year Award recipient, will serve as the Macebearer and deliver the reflection. Greg M. Hawver, Ed.D., professor and department chair of Health and Human performance, will be the Grand Marshal.

A graduation breakfast is planned for 8:15 a.m. in the Marshall Student Center Dining Hall.
