Holiday Candy Making. Divinity, fudge, peanut brittle, Buckeyes… remember all those holiday favorites from your childhood? Come join us and learn the secrets to successful candy-making and impress your guests this holiday season. Please wear closed-toed shoes, bring and apron, and a container to take home your goodies. $12 materials fee. All fees must be paid before the date of the class. No money can be accepted at the door. Unplugged Poetry at Icons! Unplugged Poetry is Giving poets, musicians and vocalists an opportunity to truly Get Unplugged & plug in to the audience that they all desire. In this event, the audience will play a key role in what happens from month to month. It’s not just about coming out to support the artists (Although that’s important). It’s about coming out …to have a great time and having a story to take home with you. There is no better place to do that than the Brand New Icon’s Bar & Grill in Downtown Albany. Amazing food. Eclectic atmosphere. Mature vibe. Full bar. When you come for Unplugged poetry, you will find that you have a new place to have a drink and a bite to eat. A place that is filled with culture & forward motion. Unplugged Poetry is NOT an Open Mic night. There will be a limited open mic segment, but the list is set. SheWrightz is both the host and the organizer. Working hard to organize a list that will be entertaining & thought provoking, we look forward to your attention & excitement. The basics of soap making. It’s been a while, and back by popular demand is our famous soap-making class. Learn the age-old technique of soap-making just like our Great-Grandmothers made. Soap is the perfect little holiday gift for co-workers, neighbors, and friends. Please wear closed toed shoes, long sleeves, and bring molds if possible for your soaps. Call to pre-register and we will give examples of good molds to use. Cost: $12 materials fee. All fees must be paid before the date of the class. No money can be accepted at the door. Albany Audubon Society Monthly Meeting. The benefits of a local membership include knowing that your contribution will be used to fund local concerns. If you live in the Albany, Georgia area and are a member of the National Audubon Society, you are automatically a member of our local chapter. Awadagin Pratt and the Albany Symphony for ‘Beethoven in Blue Jeans’. Join concert pianist Awadagin Pratt and the ASO as the symphony members perform in blue jeans. Attendees are strongly encouraged to don denim as well. The idea is to reinforce the notion that classical music–and the symphony–is for everyone. All that’s required are ears, a heart and a soul, and we’ll do the rest. Among his generation of concert artists, pianist Awadagin Pratt is acclaimed for his musical insight and intensely involving performances in recital and with symphony orchestra. Albany Arts Council
10th Annual South Georgia College Art Invitational exhibit will showcase the work of college level artists from Albany State University, Darton State College and Valdosta State University. These artists have been invited to participate by university faculty who selected their art as standouts among their peers. Work featured will be in the categories of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, graphics and photography. The exhibition runs through Nov. 28.
