Ft. Dodge, Iowa – Wind gusts of 35 mph welcomed Darton State to the site of the 2013 NJCAA D-1 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championship at Fort Dodge, Iowa, today.

The Cavaliers will race among the nation’s best on Saturday morning. The Darton men enter the competition with a No. 23 national ranking. The Lady Cavs are not ranked, due in part to a late season plagued with injuries.

The men’s 8K race begins at 11 a.m., CDT, followed by the women’s 5K at noon at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. Both races are scheduled for live webcasts on NJCAA TV.

Fortunately, the winds should die down some as the Cavaliers toe the starting line. Forecasts predict 12 mph winds out of the WSW, with temperatures in the mid-40’s.

Darton won the Region 17 Championship races for the fifth consecutive year prior to this meet. Both Darton teams hope to finish the 2013 season as top-20 programs.
