MELBOURNE, Fla. – Darton State sophomore Megan Thomas made the All-Tournament Team at the 2013 Women’s D-1 NJCAA Soccer Championship in Melboure, Fla.
Thomas, a pre-law major from Shalimar, Fla., has been an important part of the Darton program and has enjoyed two appearances to the NJCAA national tournament during her career as a Lady Cavalier.
“Megan had a great tournament,” said Darton head women’s soccer coach Ken Veilands. “She continued to get better every game and her desire to compete made her standout during the national tournament.
Her ability to play nearly any position made Thomas a valuable asset to the Lady Cavaliers, who won their third consecutive Region 17 title and entered the national championship as the No. 4 seed.
“She spent the season out of position in managing 2 injured players,” Veilands said.
Thomas still managed to score 7 goals and give 5 assists during the 2013 season. She came to Darton in 2012 as a product of Choctaw High School in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., where she was player of the year.
