ASU to hold Veterans Day observance

Albany State University will honor all U.S. military personnel and celebrate their service at an annual Veterans Day observance 11 a.m., November 11, on the grounds adjacent to Orene Hall located on the campus.

This year’s speaker is Col. Yori Escalante, who serves as the Chief of Staff for Marine Corps Logistics Command at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga.

Col. Escalante is a Combat Engineer and has commanded at every level from Combat Engineer Platoon to Combat Logistics Regiment. He deployed to Italy in 1996 in support of operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, twice to Iraq in 2003 and 2004, and most recently spent a year in Afghanistan from 2011-2012. He has also served at the Department of State directing humanitarian assistance in post-conflict nations.

The Mount Vernon, New York native hails from Houston, Texas, and is a 1986 graduate of Texas A&M University.
