Special to the Journal
Albany Area Arts Council is pleased to host the 10th Annual South Georgia College Art Invitational, formally called the Emerging Artists Exhibition. The show was originally created by ASU and Darton art faculty to give college students an opportunity to show work regionally and enable them to gain practical experience exhibiting art.
This upcoming exhibit will showcase the work of college level artists from Albany State University, Darton State College, and Valdosta State University. These college level artists have been invited to participate by university faculty who selected their art as standouts among their peers. On display will be their work in the categories of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, graphics and photography. In addition to exhibiting their art locally, these artists have the opportunity to earn an award as this is a juried exhibition. This year’s judge is Austin Roberts, a photographer and art educator at FAMU, in Tallahassee, who will select winners in each of the categories. The winners will be announced at the opening reception and individual artists will be recognized. The opening reception sponsored will be November 7th from 5:30-8pm at the Carnegie Library. The exhibition runs November 4 through 28, 2013.
