No. 5 Lady Cavs Beat Middle Georgia

MACON – Lady Cavalier forward Lyana Perez scored on a penalty kick in the final minute of the match to lead Darton to a 2-1 victory at Middle Georgia College, Thursday.

The game was gridlocked for 70 scoreless minutes before Janay Campbell assisted Perez’s first of two goals. Then the Lady Knights tied it up in the 81st minute on a goal by Micayla Crenshaw before Perez was able to score the game-winner.

It was Darton’s eighth straight win. The No. 5 ranked Lady Cavs improved to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in GCAA play.

They’ve scored an astounding 78 goals in 17 games, averaging about 4 and a half goals per match. The Darton defense, led by ‘keeper Hong Tran, has tacked a .53 goals against average.

The Lady Cavs will host ABAC at 6 p.m., Monday, and wrap up their conference schedule Friday at Gordon College.

Darton will host the Region 17/GCAA Championship Tournament beginning Nov. 1.
