ALBANY – The Darton State College Cavaliers shutout an athletic Georgia Military College team, Wednesday, in a 3-0 Region 17 match.

Alejandro Garcia, Marwan Azimi and Matt Ayrolla all scored a goal apiece for the Cavs. Forward Darwin Espinal added two assists, and continues to lead the nation in total points with 46.

The latest NJCAA poll, released Wednesday, kept the Cavaliers at No. 2 in the nation. Darton has a 10-1-1 record.

The Cavs will travel to Dunwoody, Saturday, to play their biggest Region 17 rival, Georgia Perimeter College. The Jaguars are 9-2-2 overall, ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA, and ranked 2nd in the Region.

In their last meeting, the Cavaliers’ Espinal scored a hat trick as Darton cruised to a 4-1 victory at home on Aug. 31. The Jaguars’ lone goal came in the 88th minute to keep Darton from recording a shutout.
