TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA- Freshmen Albert Murrey finished with a time of 26:42.1 to claim the top spot at the 2013 SIAC Cross Country Championship that was held in Tuskegee, Alabama. With Murrey’s, performance, the Golden Rams finished in third place at the meet.
“Albert led the race from the start and won pulling away from the field,” ASU head coach Kenneth Taylor said. “I’m really proud of him.”
Murrey was also named the SIAC Runner of the Year for his outstanding performance at the meet.
Morehouse College won the conference title for the fifth consecutive year. Clark Atlanta University finished as the runner-up.
“Everyone on our team improved their performances from the start of the season”, Taylor said. “We got a late start this season, but the guys put in a lot of hard work. That hard work got them to where they were with their performances. “
