FORT VALLEY, GA- Freshman Kristen Randolph led the team with 12 kills as the Albany State Lady Rams defeated arch-rival Fort Valley State University 3-0 on its home floor. With the victory, the Lady Rams improve to 8-7 overall, 7-2 in SIAC. Fort Valley State dips to 5-19, 3-7 in the SIAC.
In front of a huge Lady Wildcat crowd, Albany State and Fort Valley State remained close during the first game in the early going. However, the Lady Rams began to impose their power at the net with consecutive kills and steadily pulled away to win 25-16.
In the second contest, Albany State refused to let the Lady Wildcats in contention. The Lady Rams bolted to an early 10-point lead and never looked back. The final score was 25-13.
The third and final game saw the Lady Rams’ reserves continue with the ASU momentum and defeat the Lady Wildcats 25-19 to end the match.
Jillian Anderson added eight kills, and Jennifer Evans recorded seven kills, six digs and two blocks for Albany State. Amanda Cook had 27 assists, while Kaliah Cater led the team with 15 digs.
The Albany State Lady Rams will return to action on Friday, October 11th when they face Paine College at ASU’s HPER Gymnasium. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
