DECATUR - The Cavaliers fell 2-1 to the Georgia Perimeter College Jaguars, who snapped a streak of 34 GCAA wins, Saturday, in Decatur.

It was the first loss Darton encountered against a GCAA program since 2010.

“It’s good sometimes to be challenged on the road,” Darton head soccer coach Bart Sasnett said.

David Lazarof scored Darton’s lone goal in only the second minute of the match. The Cavaliers held on until the 78th minute, when Brayan Rodriguez scored on an assist by TJ Carter.

Perimeter’s Evans Ikpeoha scored the gamewinner in the 87th minute.

Darton, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA, had a second tough away game Sunday, as the Cavaliers beat the Andrew College Tigers 2-1 in overtime.

The Tigers scored on a shot that just went overhead of ‘keeper Adam Cahill. They then dropped back and defended their lead as Darton peppered their goal with shots that rang off the crossbar and posts.

Finally Darton scored late in the second half and then again in overtime to get the program’s 11th win of 2013. The Cavaliers are now 5-1 in GCAA play and 11-2-1 overall.

They’ll travel to Middle Georgia College, Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
