Leading tenor and Albany State University alumnus Travis Pratt who wowed audiences during a nationally televised network talent competition will join the 2013 Homecoming “Ram Reunion” festivities. Pratt is keynote speaker at the Homecoming Convocation on Friday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. in the HPER Gym located on the campus.
Pratt will discuss the impact training as a classical vocal performer in ASU’s Fine Arts Department has had on his career and the significance of constructing a new Fine Arts facility.
Pratt is recognized for his pitch perfect performance of O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini during a network show in which he proposed to his girlfriend in front of a national television audience. Overnight, the video clip went viral. “The confidence that I have to perform on a world stage was developed at ASU, 504 College Drive,” said Pratt who has performed in Austria, Spain, West Africa; and lived in Italy for a year after matriculating at ASU.
The 2005 ASU alumnus will also reunite with former professor Dr. Deanna Weber, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, on Thursday Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. in ACAD 141. He is set to discuss the significance of a formal education, the history of fine arts and the relevance of real-world application of academic work in the fine arts field.
Media is welcome to attend. For more information, call the ASU Office of University Communications at (229) 430-4671.
