Acclaimed actress Tasha Smith will inspire Albany State University students pursuing careers in acting, communications, business and entertainment this week. Smith will give a talk at the “Student Dialogue” presentation at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 in the Library Lecture Room located in the James Pendergrass Library.
Smith will discuss strategies for success in the entertainment industry, with a primary focus on goal-setting and personal responsibility.
Smith will also serve as the keynote speaker for the 2013 ASU Student Government Association Leadership Conference at 7 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom later that day.
“It is an honor to have Tasha Smith as a speaker for our annual SGA leadership conference,” said ASU SGA President, De’Jane Thompson. “The student body is very excited to have her on our campus.”
Smith is best known for her work on the big screen, starring as Angela in Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?” and the sequel “Why Did I Get Married Too?” She is currently featured on the spin-off television series, “For Better or For Worse” on the OWN network.
In addition to acting, Smith is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and a mentor to aspiring actors through the Tasha Smith Actors Workshop.
