In observance of National Breast Cancer Month and National Down Syndrome Month, Albany State students from the College of Sciences and Health Professions did their part Wednesday, to help raise awareness about major health issues impacting all Americans. The Awareness Health Fair, sponsored by the Nursing Outreach Student Association, included presentations about HIV and AIDS, lupus, breast cancer and domestic abuse. Students and faculty distributing pamphlets and conducted blood pressure checks, glucose and cholesterol screenings.
“There are a lot of diseases that people do not know about,” said Jeanna Hobbs, N.O.S.A. president. “This fair is an opportunity to bring awareness to these diseases and show signs and symptoms of these diseases.” The event took place in the ACAD Atrium from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
