The Albany State University family will honor the accomplishments of the institution’s eighth president during a farewell celebration this week. Students, faculty, and staff will bid farewell to Dr. Everette J. Freeman at 4: p.m. Thursday, October 24 in L. Orene Hall located on the campus.

Freeman announced his departure on Oct. 16 to accept a new position as President of the Community College of Denver in Denver, Colorado. His last day at ASU is Oct. 31; and his first day on the job out west begins Nov. 1.

“This is part of the wonderful unfolding of an institution. When a president comes, it’s a moment of grace and when a president leaves, it’s a moment of grace. We keep our focus on the university and its growth, not an individual,” said Freeman. “I’ll take the things I’ve learned here and apply those things in Colorado,” he added.

The community is invited to attend the reception.
