You will learn how to register as a vendor, who to contact, where to find opportunities, what the requirements are for bidding, and how to get paid. The Albany-Dougherty Branch of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) cordially invites you to attend our 36th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet. Our theme for this month is ‘ We Are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder’. Our strategic 5 Game changers are Economic Sustainability, Education, Health, Public Safety & Criminal Justice, Voting Rights and Political Representation. The Keynote Speaker will be The Rev. Nelson B. Rivers, III, Pastor, Charity Missionary Baptist Church from North Charleston, South Carolina. He is the Vice-President, Stakeholder Relation of the NAACP. Riv. Rivers will be delivering a timely message that ties in appropriately with the Banquet theme of ‘We Are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder’. Featured entertainment will be by Mr. Kenneth Thomas & The Southwest Georgia Mass Choir and The Little ‘Angels In Action’ Dancers from Hawkinsville, Georgia. A delicious meal will be served. Water, Wings & Wildlife Festival. Make some tracks and come to the Flint RiverQuarium for the 2013 Water, Wings & Wildlife Festival on Saturday, September 28! Whether wet and scaly, feathered, slimy or furry, we want to celebrate all of the amazing wild animals that fill our beautiful world. You can enjoy birds of prey and reptile shows, birding hikes along the Riverfront Trail, building a birdhouse and learning about the “animals” in outer space. Or maybe you prefer to fly fish along the Flint, fish in the fountain or SCUBA dive. All of these activities and much more await you at the Flint RiverQuarium. Zoom In On Albany Photo Contest: Albany Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting a photo contest, and we want you to participate! The contest is open to professional and amateur photographers, all ages, visitors, locals and YOU! Enter on our Facebook page. Photos can be color, black and white, or sepia tone. Photos must be JPG file at 300 DPI minimum. Entries must be submitted on Visit Albany’s Facebook Page. Photo subjects can be events, people, scenes and any season. All entries become the property of the Albany Convention & Visitors Bureau. Entries and releases must be received on or before Sept. 16, 2013, by 11:59 p.m. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. Voting begins at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 17 and ends 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2013. There will be one overall winner. Prize will be an Ipad2, and the winning photo will be showcased in the Albany Herald.
