“Stand for ASU” Day gives Albany State University administrators, faculty, students and staff a chance to contribute to the cause of education. The campus family donated cash and made monthly pledges just before the new 2013-2014 school year began in August. This week, the year-long fundraising campaign continues on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Student Center Amphitheater from noon to 2 p.m. with a live remote broadcast, a hot dog roast, entertainment and giveaways, including a 42 inch, color television and getaway to a Hilton Head Resort.

“More than $25,000 was raised through payroll deductions and pledges. It showed the support, spirit and synergy needed to successfully navigate the university’s new direction,” said ASU’s Executive Director of Marketing, Demetrius Love. “Our goal is to have more than 50 percent of faculty and staff members answer the call to give.”

“Stand” activities are scheduled among ASU alumni chapters throughout the state and across the country.
