Area golfers can enjoy an afternoon of fun and recreation while supporting positive community activities when the 17th annual Charles H. Smith Golf Tournament sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County tees off on Monday, October 14.

The event this year moves back to Doublegate Country Club on Old Dawson Road. After a noontime cookout and registration, play will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on the club’s beautiful, rolling course.

The format is a two-man scramble with an entry fee of $75 per person. The entry fee includes green fees, cart, range, lunch and refreshments, with the added incentive of lots of great prizes that will be awarded.

Both personal and business sponsors are being sought at three levels: Gold ($500), entitling the sponsor to a sign on a hole bearing the name of the business or person, a banner mounted on the scoreboard with name, and entry for two two-person teams; Silver ($250), a sign with sponsor name on a hole and one team’s entry; and Bronze, ($125), a name sign at a hole.

Proceeds from the tournament will be used by the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County to benefit community service projects in Dougherty and Lee counties, with 100 percent of all funds raised invested back into the community.

To obtain registration or sponsor forms or to seek further information, please contact Alan Greer at 229-886-9577.

Lee County Kiwanian and golfer Gene Goldsmith is checked in at last year’s tournament by Dougherty Kiwanians Betts Smith and Tim McClelland.
