Cindy Altman’s insider’s look at the real world of health care offers readers insider’s knowledge

ATHOL, N.Y. – In her new book, “Things Only a Nurse Like Me Will Tell You” (published by Inspiring Voices), author and nurse Cindy Altman, RN, offers readers a glimpse into the world of health care professionals away from their patients.

“‘Things Only a Nurse Like Me Will Tell You’ talks about things most health care professionals say when we leave your bedside,” Altman says. “What I too often see is we don’t tell you the whole truth we know so you keep making too many misguided decisions in regard to you or your loved one’s health care.”

An excerpt from “Things Only a Nurse Like Me Will Tell You”:

“I have always followed that practice, to treat my patients how I would want my loved ones treated. I also have always followed my favorite saying, ‘I can kill you with kindness or I can get you better.’ I take my role to get you better seriously, so you do, if you can. I do not do perfect care, but I am a Nurse who cares.”

Altman’s ultimate goal in her writing is the same as her goal in health care: to give readers the ability to make wiser decisions, especially in long-term care of themselves and those they have power over.
