Things to do Downtown this week!

Thursday, September 12th – 10am
Taco Truck Thursday at the Flint RiverQuarium. Stop by the FRQ Parking lot for some amazing tacos from the “Taco Truck”. 10am-2pm

Thursday, September 12th – 6pm
Writing an effective business plan. Starting a business without a plan is like going on a trip without a map. A business plan helps you start, build and manage your business. Learn why a business plan is critical to your success, especially if you need a loan or an investor for your business. This course will explain the sections of the business plan, what information is required for each section, and the general format for a business plan. In addition, you will receive a detailed planning outline and other information to help you develop an effective business plan right away. Take 2 classes for $99! First Person pays series price of $99 for two classes, and saves $39 –second person in your group get a 50% discount for the 2 class series!! ($49.50) These seminars are the two core workshops that ensure you have the basic understanding of what it takes to start a successful business and get that loan to operate! Albany Audubon Society Monthly Meeting. Location: Flint RiverQuarium 117 Pine Ave. If you live in the Albany, Georgia area and are a member of the National Audubon Society, you are automatically a member of our local chapter. If you wish to be a member of the Albany chapter only, the yearly dues are $20.00, and are tax-deductible. Some members may choose to do both, and we will gladly accept your contribution

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful (KADB) Electronic Recycling Collection Day. KADB works through its standing committees, local businesses, and interested civic and government groups to identify, develop, and coordinate programs that environmentally educate our citizens. We believe that through education and community involvement, we are encouraging a sense of community pride and responsibility that will make our citizens more environmentally responsible. KADB to host Go Green Event Free Electronic Recycling Collection Day to promote the proper disposal of unwanted electronic equipment! Electronics account for 2 to 5% of landfill volume, but it contributes up to 70% of the toxins found in landfills. Accepted items include: test & network equipment, televisions ($10 handling fee will be charged for each set/TV sets encased in wood cabinet CAN NOT be accepted), VCR, printers, keyboards, scanner, boards, cables, UPS/battery back-up, projectors, CB radios, laptops, video machines, cell phones, modems, record players, cd roms, microwave ovens, telephones, computer CPU’s, copiers, portable radios, cameras, camcorders, fax machines, computer monitors, stereos, CD players, disk drivers, electrical panels circuit, typewriters speakers. Items NOT accepted: vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers, gas powered equipment, and non-electronic equipment. Freedom Singers performance at the Albany Civil Rights Institute. Every second Saturday, the Freedom Singers, led by the original SNCC Freedom Singer Rutha Harris, perform in the fully restored Old Mount Zion Baptist Church on the campus of the Albany Civil Rights Institute. Location: Albany Civil Rights Institute 326 West Whitney Avenue
