ALBANY – The Albany Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) pleased to announce it’s recent hire, J.D. Sumner, who has joined the CVB as its sales manager effective Monday.
A native of Tifton, Ga., Sumner comes to the CVB after spending the last six years at the Albany Herald where he covered a wide range of stories impacting the Albany community, including extensive coverage of the operations of the CVB, City of Albany government and Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re glad to have J.D. on board,” Rashelle Beasley, Albany CVB Manager said. “His extensive knowledge of Albany and Southwest Georgia as well as his contacts throughout the region will be an asset to our organization and to the community at large.”
Sumner’s duties will largely focus on maintaining and building relationships with local hotels and recruiting conferences, trade shows and events to Albany.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on past successes and really make this community a better place through a renewed focus on tourism,” Sumner said.
