July 24, 2013 – Georgia Connections Academy, http://www.GeorgiaConnectionsAcademy.com, a leading provider of high-quality, highly accountable virtual schooling for students in grades K through 12, continues to get high marks from parents, a new study shows. In its 2012-2013 Parent Satisfaction Survey, 88% of parents gave the Connections Academy (CA) online school program an “A” or “B” grade, and 90% recommend Georgia Connections Academy to other parents.

“I cannot recommend Georgia Connections Academy enough to perspective parents,” said parent Theresa Morgan. “My daughter boasts often about how enrolling her in the school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”

Georgia Connections Academy will begin the 2013-2014 school year August 12 and enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is going on now. Many spots are still available and parents are strongly encouraged to enroll their kids now. Free information sessions are taking place across the state for families interested in learning more, meeting teachers and school representatives, and exploring the award-winning curriculum. There are also Virtual Information Sessions available for families to learn more about the school in an online setting if they cannot make it to an in person session.

Parents gave the Georgia Connections Academy program high marks for its academic rigor, program flexibility, the high quality of its teachers, and for delivering high levels of student achievement. Eighty-seven percent of parents reported that their children are making good academic progress, arguably the keenest evaluation of a child’s education. Ninety-four percent said they were pleased with the helpfulness of their children’s teachers, and specifically praised their responsiveness and accessibility. Parents were also virtually unanimous in their praise of the CA curriculum, with 96% of survey respondents calling it “high quality”.

The annual parent survey also revealed that parents’ top reasons for enrolling their students in a Connections Academy school included: flexible schedule (40%), wanting a different environment from their current school (38%), and “so my child can learn in a safe environment” (33%). Other factors parents cited included the wish for “greater involvement in my child’s learning” (24%) and 18% who said “my child was at risk of academic failure and I wanted a more intensive and personalized instruction for him/her.”

“The flexibility and quality of Georgia Connections Academy’s courses has been refreshing and was extremely well needed,” says Sonia Lucas, who enrolled her daughter Chanel Lucas into the school so that Chanel could pursue a gymnastics career while still being able to receive a quality education.

“Our Parent Satisfaction Survey really illustrates our commitment to accountability. We value this parent feedback and use it to help make our virtual school program better. I am very pleased with the results, in particular the positive feedback about our teachers and the curriculum,” said Principal Heather Robinson.

Georgia Connections Academy stellar parent satisfaction ratings –88% gave GACA an A or B grade — stand well above public school ratings from the 44th Annual Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools, in which 77% of public school parents gave the public school their oldest child attends an “A” or a “B” grade.[1] Further underscoring how pleased parents are with Georgia Connections Academy, 82% of parents reported being ‘more satisfied’ with Georgia Connections Academy than their child’s/children’s previous school.

Survey methodology

Connections Academy conducts its annual Parent Satisfaction Survey to find out how its parents, guardians and Learning Coaches grade the program in several key areas. The 2012-2013 survey was conducted from January 15th to March 8th by L.J. Shapiro & Associates, an independent market research company which created the questionnaire, collected the data, and tabulated the results. No individual responses were accessible to Connections Academy. Parents of all currently enrolled students were invited to complete the Survey online. A WebMail invitation was sent to each parent, and one response per household was submitted. Forty-eight percent of the over 34,000 households with students enrolled in a CA school at the time of the Survey responded to the Survey.
