ATLANTA – A south Georgia chicken factory worker is chicken dancing with a half-million dollar prize from the Georgia Lottery. Allen Lott of Douglas has won a $500,000 top prize from the new Georgia Lottery instant game Lucky Bucks.
“I feel like the same person. Winning makes me feel comfortable,” said Lott, 53.
Aden’s Minit Market #74, located on 405 Alabama St. N. in Broxton, sold the winning ticket.
“I was heading home and saw the last store on the way. I said to myself, ‘Why not give it a chance?’”
Wanting to pick a new game, Lott chose Lucky Bucks and scratched it in the store.
“I asked the store clerk, “‘Do you see what I see?’”
With his winnings, Lott plans to help his sisters and set aside the remainder for a rainy day.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
