Sarah Griffith Lyons Cox

Sarah Griffith Lyons Cox, 79 of Albany died May 20, 2013 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, GA.

Funeral services will be Thursday 10 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor officiating.

A native of Rome, GA, Mrs. Cox lived in Albany since 1960, where she was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, and also attended First United Methodist Church. She was the former owner of Lyons Appliance and was retired from Giles Building Supply Co. Mrs. Cox was a member of the National Association of Women in Construction and a volunteer with the American Red Cross South Georgia Community Blood Center.

Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Cox, parents, Charles Russell Griffith, Sr. and Maude Leigh Oglesby and her sister, Donna Griffith Litton.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Dee Lyons of Dallas TX, Beverly Lyons Giddens and her husband Bob of Leesburg and Charles Lyons of Atlanta, four grandchildren, Candace Giddens Mincey and her husband Travis of Charlotte, NC, Brad Giddens of Macon, Gregory Lyons of Houston, TX and Eric Giddens and his wife Casey of St. Augustine, FL, step-son, George B. Cox and his wife Robbie of Atlanta, step-daughter, Debra Cox Bradfield of Leesburg, brother, Charles Russell Griffith, Jr. and his wife Nan of St. Louis ,MO, one great-grandchild(pending arrival) McKenna Mincey, due on June the 20th, step-grandchildren, Paul Langley, Lee Langley and his wife Whitney, Brian Cox, Cory Cox, Rachael Harrison, Shawn Harrison and Rodney Beaubouef and his wife Kara, step-great-grandchildren, Ava Giddens, Quinn Giddens, Grant Giddens, Jackson Langley, Tessa Langley, Alec Langley, Morgan Harrison, Brendan Harrison and Bonham Beaubouef.

The Family of Mrs. Sarah Cox would like to express their sincere appreciation to Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA and Vista Hospice in Columbus, GA for their acts of kindness and thoughtfulness during their mother’s illness.
