ALBANY – Darton State College’s Department of Continuing Education will host a Professional Women’s Forum on Wednesday, June 5, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Event Center at Merry Acres. The guest speaker is Judge Victoria S. Darrisaw.
Victoria S. Darrisaw is the first woman to serve as a State Court Judge for Dougherty County. She was elected on July 31, 2012 for the January 2013 seat, later she was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to take office in September 2012 to fill a vacancy. Judge Darrisaw has worked as a law clerk in Superior and Federal Court, as an Assistant District Attorney, and as a Dougherty County Magistrate Judge. She graduated cum laude with a BA in political science from Spelman College and earned her Juris Doctorate from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Judge Darrisaw stays very active in the community with a variety of organizations; including Leadership Albany, the Boys and Girls Club, and Friendship Baptist Church. She is married to George E. Darrisaw Jr., a music specialist at Lamar Reese Elementary School, and they have two children, George III and Helen.
The Darton State College Department of Continuing Education and Economic Development host the Professional Women’s Forum twice a year. The forum is designed for women of Southwest Georgia to meet and network, learnabout educational opportunities, development strategies for success, and toinspire one another to achieve great things.
