Currently leading delegation through Middle East
WASHINGTON- On Monday, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), vice chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, along with a delegation of his Senate colleagues, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss Iran’s unrelenting nuclear ambitions. The senators are traveling to countries in the Middle East this week, including Israel, Oman, and Azerbaijan, in support of congressional intelligence oversight activities.
“Iran’s nuclear activities cannot be explained away as dual-use nuclear energy technology,” said Chambliss. “Their efforts have continued far too long with no repercussions. Our government must be firm with the Iranian regime, and clearly show its support for our biggest ally in the Middle East, Israel. I enjoyed our conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu about the importance of maintaining the strong security relationship between Israel and the United States.”
Also in the meeting were U.S. Sens. John Barrasso (R-WY), Richard Burr (R-NC), and Thad Cochran (R-MS).
