Albany, Ga -Darton State College has leapt to No. 9 in the national poll, the NJCAA announced late yesterday afternoon.

It is the Cavaliers’ first appearance in the NJCAA D-1 Baseball Poll’s top ten in the program’s history.

The Cavaliers have also created a new program record for wins – 35 now – and they’re five victories away from winning the regular conference season. If the Cavs win their next three games against Middle Georgia and at least two of their 4-game series with Georgia Perimeter College, they should clinch it.

The Cavaliers are 35-9 overall and 20-5 in conference play. They’ll host Middle at 6 p.m., Thursday, and again for a doubleheader, Saturday, at 1 p.m.

Darton will host the conference championship May 8-11.
