Cavaliers improve in round two, move well ahead of competitio

TIFTON– Darton State College improved by 10 strokes today and continues to lead the Region 17/GCAA Men’s Golf Championship at Golf Club of South Georgia in Tifton.

Parks Brown shot the lowest score for the Cavaliers, finishing the tournament’s second round with an even par. Teammates Robert Robertson, Nick Green and Tae Kim shot 73, 74, 76 to give Darton a team score of 295 today.

Darton has a two-day total of 600 strokes. Tournament-hosts ABAC have 621, Gordon has 624, Georgia Military College has 630 and Andrew College 653.

“I did see a few more putts drop today, which was a lot more fun to watch,” Darton head golf coach Bill Jones said. “We got off to a better start today. They played smart and executed our game plan a little better.”

The tournament concludes Tuesday. If the Cavaliers win, it will be the program’s 12th straight Region 17 title.
