Albany, Ga – The Albany State University Department of Fine Arts 2012-2013 T. Marshall Jones Fine Arts and Lyceum Performance Series will feature world-renowned violinist Gareth Johnson in a recital. The recital will be held at the ASU ACAD Auditorium, Tuesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. Johnson will be accompanied by Mimi Noda on piano.
A review by the Press Enterprise of Redlands California in 2009 described Gareth Johnson as a violin soloist who “blew the socks off an enthusiastic audience.” According to Sherli Leonard, Johnson dazzled the audience with “lithe, nimble fingering, perfect intonation and clear, sure high notes.”
Johnson has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean. The list of orchestras he has performed with includes the Boston Pops, the National Symphony in Washington D.C., and the Rochester Philharmonic. In addition to performing, he also teaches students at Albany State University as a distinguished visiting lecturer.
