This is #NVR once again writing from the forefront of cultural growth in Albany, GA. First, I have to apologize: no deaths will be mentioned in the story below. The ArtPark opened to the great delight of all involved, no one died and great fun was had by all. So let’s just call it… An April Fools Joke.
So with that let’s move on. The ArtPark is a new public space in our downtown area that has been made for specifically what it sounds like: art. While there is still a lot of work to be done on the street scape and inside to give the space a good feeling, it is currently open to the public and has been taken as a centerpiece for the D’Town Arts Coalition, Makerspace, and The Kattalistt Group. In the coming months this site will become a center of bustling activity with cookouts, meetings, DIY workshops, and yes, you guessed it.. ART.
We invite you to come down and check us out. And watch our progress as we build the space into something great for our downtown community.
Looking to the month ahead I want to tell you about the Color the Grove 5K & Music Festival which is taking place on the 27th of April in Downtown Albany (Centered on the Artpark) from 10AM – 4PM and then at Darton College from 5PM- 10PM. The event promises to bring some color to our community as well as live music and a festival atmosphere. Interests in participation or volunteering should be directed to www.FlintRiverquarium.com and www.Darton.edu .
