Long brings Cavaliers back into the game, beats West Georgia Tech

Albany, Ga - Darton State College Cavaliers outlasted West Georgia Tech on Friday after five lead changes, and pulled off a 6-5 win at home in the second of a four-game conference series.

Chris Long takes enters the game in the sixth inning today to get a tough win for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. Tied 5-5 and with the bases jammed, West Georgia pitcher Cole Reynolds walked Cody Wofford to score Trey Haygood and end the first of a doubleheader with a Darton victory.

Chris Long came into the game in the sixth inning and took control to get the win for the Cavaliers. With Darton down by two runs, he stepped onto the mound and pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings. Long struck out three, walked none and gave up one hit.

Brandon Sharpe racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Cavaliers. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning. Cody Wofford, Casey James and Casey Moody also had a RBI each.

Darton, ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA and No. 1 in the GCAA conference, has so far split with West Georgia Tech in this four-game series. After the doubleheader today, they are scheduled to play again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
