SALINA, Kan. – Darton State College will play ninth-seeded Blinn College (Tex.), Tuesday at the NJCAA D-1 Women’s Basketball Championships.
Blinn beat No. 24-seed Kaskaskia College (Ill.) today, 72-63 in Game 2 of the tournament’s 1st round.
Entering the tournament as one of the top eight teams, Darton earned a 1st round bye, and Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. matchup will be the Lady Cavaliers’ first game of the tournament.
Blinn’s offense relied heavily on three players who scored 51 of their 72 points today. Two of whom, Audrisa Harrison and Jazzmin Parker, scored 16 points. Fatima Adams led the Lady Buccaneers with 19 points. Ten of Blinn College’s points came from the Lady Bucs’ bench.
Blinn scored a bunch of points in the first half – 48 – to lead by 18 at half time. The Blue Angels outscored Blinn College 33-24 in the second half of the game but still lost by nine.
The Lady Cavaliers’ first national tournament appearance in over a decade begins at 5:30 p.m., Eastern Time, Tuesday. A win would put Darton into the quarterfinals, Thursday.
