Anna Macht wins silver as Darton swims through day two

BUFFALO, NY – Darton State College sophomore Anna Macht won a silver medal in the 200 yard IM, Thursday, at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championship in Buffalo, N.Y.

Macht swam the medley in 2:04.91. Solyve Lizardi of Indian River won gold with a time of 2:03.84.

Macht and teammates Emily Mitchell, Sarah Hoop and Sandra Guerrero also won a bronze medal for the Lady Cavaliers in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Anna Barnes finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle race. Sarah Hoop finished 11th in the women’s 50-yard freestyle to keep Darton in second place overall as Session 5 closed Thursday.

On the men’s side, the Cavaliers were positioned in third place as events Thursday concluded.

The Cavaliers finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Matthew Jones, Ethan Wolovick, Trey Martin and Gabe Downey). Cody Aselton finished 17th in the 500-yard freestyle. TJ Bland finished 10th in the 200-yard IM. Matthew Jones finished 10th in the 50 freestyle finals.

Morning and afternoon sessions today consisted of prelims. Finals resume this evening in 12 events. The championship concludes Saturday night.
