‘All Star Saturday’

Albany, Ga – “All Star Saturday” will be held at Darton State College on Saturday, March 23, 2013.  “All Star Saturday” will feature 4 very exciting All Star basketball games, a Youth Cheer & Dance Showcase and a special tribute to Dr. John Ira Davis, Jr.

The Elementary All Star Classic will kick off the festivities at 12 noon and will feature some of the best 5th grade boys and girls in the city.  The Youth Cheer & Dance Showcase will begin at 1:30pm.  The showcase will feature local teams such as the Albany Elite “Tiger Paws”, Cheer Up and Girls, Inc.  At 2:00pm, the Albany Legends will play the Randolph-Clay Legends.  The teams will be comprised of players that graduated from high school between 1990-1999.  The Legends Game will feature former professional players such as Lavor Postell (NBA), Donnell Harvey (NBA), Chris Cameron (overseas), Pertha Robinson (Germany) and many more.  The SW Georgia Girls High School All Star Game will begin at 4:00pm.  The SW Georgia Boys High School All Star Game will begin at 6:00pm.  Both games will feature the top graduating seniors throughout SW Georgia.  Several local players such as Jabari McGhee, Romello Carter, Patrick Stanford, TJ Cromer, Kel Miller, Kairsha Jackson, Davone Aduze, Quannesha Gatlin and Shantaria Williams will participate in the All Star Games.

“All Star Saturday” will provide a positive environment for all who participate, allow the players and coaches to experience the excitement and camaraderie involved with an All-Star event, and give the fans another opportunity to enjoy competitive boys’ and girls’ basketball games among the top players in the area.  Dr. Earnest Brown, Director of “All Star Saturday”, has been hosting the All Star event for the past 3 years and indicated that this year will be an event for the entire family!

Tickets to “All Star Saturday” can be purchased at the following locations:  The Athlete’s Foot (2800 Old Dawson Rd.), Odyssey Records (247 East Oglethorpe Blvd.) or at Klean Kuts Barbershop (1020 Flint Ave.).
