Albany, GA – The new “open communion” between St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the Lutheran Church of Our Savior was celebrated in a joint service on February 10, with Bishop Julian Gordy of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) as celebrant and bringing the sermon. Pictured, from left, verger Carolyn Brunson; Karen Wynegar, president of the advisory committee of LCOS at St. Patrick’s; St. Patrick’s Lutheran pastor-in-residence Bill Diamond; Bishop Gordy; St. Patrick’s rector Father Jay Weldon; deacon Joy Davis; and verger Casey Perkins. The churches’ affiliation allows them to minister to Episcopalians and Lutherans alike in services and outreach.
