ALBANY, Ga – Darton State earned a No. 7 ranking in the first Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll of the 2013 season, and the Cavaliers will host the No. 2 ranked team and others at the Doublegate Collegiate Invitational next week.

The Cavaliers will be among nine teams to tee off Monday morning in the 54-hole tourney. No. 2-ranked Central Alabama, Wallace State and NAIA-competitor USC-Beaufort will highlight the visiting field.

Almost all of the Cavaliers will play, as head coach Bill Jones plans to have an A and B team in the competition.

“This is the first time we’ve had a tournament at Doublegate and we are extremely excited to show off another one of our great home courses,” Jones said. “Despite of all the rain we’ve had, the course is in great condition and it should be a wonderful event next week.”

Teams will play 36 holes Monday and another 18 Tuesday.
