ALBANY, GA – Christopher Floyd, of Ashburn, has been named Darton State College’s Academic Recognition Student for 2013. Each college in the University System of Georgia annually selects onestudent to honor for their academic achievements.
Floyd, who served in the United States Marine Corps, first graduated from Darton State College in 2006 with a certificate in Emergency Medical Services. Since then he has continued his education at Darton, earning an A.S. in Emergency Medical Sciences and an A.S. in Nursing. Currently, Floyd is enrolled in Darton’s new BSN program. Floyd is also a member of the Lambda Chi Nu Nursing Honor Society and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
In addition to going to school, Floyd works full-time at Tift Regional Medical Center ICU in Tifton, GA. “I am very honored to have been selected as Darton’s 2013 Academic Recognition Student, said Floyd.” “Darton is a great school. All of the instructors are very knowledgably in their fields and always willing to help – they have been very instrumental in my success.”
As the Academic Recognition Student from Darton State College, Floyd’s name will be read on the floor of the Georgia Assembly and entered into the official record. He will also receive declaration at Darton State’s Honors Program held in the spring.
